Unit 8 Post

This Unit 9 project has 10 questions to ask, to keep perspective and to increase perspective into clients views on change and goals. I interviewed my oldest daughter and was thrilled to do so and learn she is willing to make changes, create goals and move forward after a tough year.

In this final project we will take a look at a list of 10 questions that I have created regarding spiritual and psychological wellness. Developing a plan of wellness, a goal with intention and some proper guidance would be beneficial to all people looking for a more fulfilling and meaningful life. It is important to capture the idea of a more fulfilled life is absolutely a personal objective. Also,  it can be a complete 180 degrees from other people searching for this in their life. The bottom line is, and it is an important one, everyone is different and finds their own way of fulfillment and wellness. However, we can use many questions, not just 10, to see someone through to their personal best health and wellness in regards to spirituality, with some deep thought, hard work, and unconditional love.

Our list of questions ranges from what, who, why, and how’s of life per our client. I will interview ,take notes and inform you of my findings and the elements I would change from my initial interview. Let us start with the list of questions I will offer my client.

  1. What is your foundation? (Ex. Family, job, God, money). This question will require someone to look into what they stand on and  what is important to them.
  2. What are your passions in life? This question will require the client to think and create a thought on what makes them excited in life.
  3. What makes you excited about your future? This question will require the client to think about a future plan, something that will require a heartfelt guidance toward their future.
  4. What are you scared of? This question makes one think about their fears and ambivalence toward life and moving forward.
  5. Who is your biggest positive influence and why? This question will require the client to think about an important person that holds an important an influential place in their hearts.
  6. Who is your most dreadful influence and why? This question will make our client think about what they do not want to be and focus on how to be different than them.
  7. What are you doing to be like your most positive influence? We look here at some motivation and inspiration for our client to be like their role model or person they want to adhere to.
  8. How are you living your life for betterment of yourself? This makes the client look at what they are doing positively or negatively, but ultimately what is better every day in their life.
  9. Do you think you can change your perspective, the way you live and your thought patterns for a more fulfilling life? This question takes an open and honest look into our clients mind and life. Looking into change,  better future and more fulfilled life.
  10. Do these questions help you understand where and what you need to change in your life for a more fulfilled life including spiritually and psychologically? Our client can take an overall look into these previous 9 questions and observe, think and complete a thoughtful process of intent and obligation to themselves and the more fulfilled life.

I have created these questions as a practitioner, but also as someone who needs to ask myself the same questions daily, especially in this chapter of life. In the following paragraphs, you will find my thoughts and ideas after interviewing my 19 year old daughter, Sophia. Sophia is a college Sophomore at Purdue University. Sophia strives to be the very best she can be every day. Some of my concern about Sophia is that she is too hard on herself and places undo stress in certain areas in her life. I am hoping that this will enlighten Sophia to think more about her own goals and not so much on the current state of her family that has been recently been broken by her fathers’ affair and ultimate divorce of her parents.

During the interview process, Sophia, thought long and hard about her answers to the questions. She made mention several times that the questions made her think outside of the box, that they were tough questions that made her think about the future more. Some of her answers surprised her and myself. Sophia does not usually like change, she likes routines. Her answers made her think more about being willing for change, adventure and the future. As her mother I am super proud of her for answering these questions thoughtfully and carefully. It was so fun to watch the light bulb go off and then start planning more for brightness in her future.

After the interviewing process, Sophia asked me questions. She wanted to know more about making changes, having a more open mind and we discussed this together. I do believe that these 10 questions can help a person decide if the current life they are living is fulfilling both spiritually and psychologically. At this point, I feel these questions can lead to answers for someone struggling, or as a checklist for those who do not feel they are struggling in their wellness. Perhaps though, if the client was older I would need a somewhat different way, maybe more professional way of asking the questions.

This project has offered me a chance to interview my oldest daughter, to get an inside view of her mind and then to encourage her to move forward, continue following her dreams and be the best she could possibly be, all the time. I am excited to complete this interview process with my other children soon, I cannot wait to see if these questions would inspire them at all. The list of 10 questions will be coming with me , wherever I land.
